This large, green, malachite cabochon (approx 1.2 x 1.6 inches) is amazing! Mother nature astounds me over and over and over. I've set it in sterling silver, and made the traditional silversmith's figure 8 tie slide on the back. A black braided tie really complements the stone. Dare I say one of a kind? How often does a continent appear in a stone that gets lovingly cut, shaped, and polished....then gets imagined into a western-style jewelry adornment, then gets intentionally set into that imagined sterling silver cradle? Hmmm.....
